The Roxby Downs community can prepare for road upgrades under the 2008/09 State budget that was handed down by treasurer Kevin Foley on Thursday, Member for Giles Lyn Breuer said.
The budget will see increases in health, education and police funding as well as deliver total tax cuts of almost $3 billion by the 2012 financial year.
Funding pumped into the education system will see a spending increase to $11,568 per student.
Ms Breuer said that the increased funding will allow for schools in the region to offer more curriculum choices and as such increase student retention rather than seeing parents send children off to boarding school in Adelaide or other rural centres.
"I'm hoping that improved facilities will get people to keep kids in Roxby instead of send them away," she said.
"There aren't enough students staying in Roxby to support a full curriculum."
Mr Breuer said that the community needed to focus on keeping its youth in the region - something that the budget supports.
The criminal justice system and water security were also high on the budget’s agenda.
The 2008/09 State Budget was handed down with a $160 million surplus on Thursday, June 5.
