Family and Youth coordinator Tom Beever hit out at insensitive residents this week about excessive noise.
"It's unbelievable that here we are living in a mining town with every one on different shift routines, and yet people have their music up loud or are creating excessive noise levels," he said.
Mr Beever has had to confront residents in his own street over excessive noise levels and was met with a recent reply, "but it's only 10pm".
"In a mining town it doesn't matter what time of day it is, you are very likely to have someone nearby who is trying to sleep … this is a 24 hour mine after all," he said.
Mr Beever works with families under stress everyday and said conflict among neighbours had occurred because of unacceptable noise levels.
"It creates disharmony and dispute," he sid.
"I encourage anyone who is planning to have a party to contact their neighbours and discuss it with them before the event.
“Very often a compromise can be worked through and it could even bring the neighbourhood together a little."
The law on excessive noise does not discriminate around the time of day.
A resident can be deemed to have created a nuisance at anytime of day or night.
Mr Beever said that with a little care taken this problem can be controlled and all can live in peace after a hard day.
"It's up to people to take responsibility for the noise they create…it's an issue of respect between people," he said.
