Great games fought in round five

10/06/2008 3:00:00 PM
Hornridge took on Olympic Dam, in what was a great game through round five.

The skill level shown from both teams was superb.

Hornridge won the toss and kicked towards the bar end, Olympic Dam got off to a flying a start, with Nigel Shinnick kicking the first two goals of the game, without Hornridge scoring.

The first quarter ended with OD one point in front, the second quarter was once again much like the first with a lot of skill being shown, with Hornridge kicking a couple of unanswered goals.

This was until OD broke the streak and kicked a couple of goals of there own to be just in front at half time.

The talk around the ground at half time was that OD's fitness could let them down because of Hornridge's speed down the wings.

After the break OD slowly got on top and started to control the game.

Its backline played well.

Paul Trotta played a good game, getting the better of his opponent.

At three quarter time OD were full of confidence, but Hornridge were never going to quit, as the last quarter there was a lot of play between the two 50m arch's.

When the final siren went OD won a well fought game.

The reigning premiers, Andamooka Roos took on the undefeated Roxby Districts.

From the first bounce things seem to go Roxby's way as they went on to win the first quarter and be in front by a reasonable margin.

The second quarter saw Roxby take more control over Andamooka and to be leading at half time by a considerable margin.

The break at half time saw Roxby go into the change rooms with a lot of confidence because they were controlling the game.

The second half was much like the first as Roxby came out firing again and controlled the game with a good discipline game plan.

As the game went on Roxby seemed to lift and go on to kick 17 goals for the game, to Andamooka's four goals.

Rumour of the week: Olympic Dam are maybe going to get Crowie in weeks to come.
