Round four of the season brought the game everyone was waiting to see, the two biggest rivals in the league, Olympic Dam and Roxby District.
Once the two teams were on the field, you could nearly cut the tension between them with a knife.
The first quarter saw a lot of play between the two 50m arches, with Roxby in front at quarter time by a goal and a couple points.
The to and fro continued for most of the second and into the third quarter due to the conditions on the day.
Roxby were in front at half time, and the third quarter to still be in front at the final break.
The last quarter saw the lead change multiple times until Roxby kicked two straight goals and went onto win the game by a small margin.
The 2pm game was a battle between Coober Pedy and Hornridge who was still after its first win.
Hornridge gained its captain back, Tyron Price and this game also saw the debut of Stuart Frenci.
Hornridge got off to a great start, until Coober Pedy (who only had 19 players) found it’s feet and kicked a couple of goals, the scores being close at the first brake.
The second quarter was much the same with it being close the whole way through.
Coober Pedy showed yet again that they will never give up.
After the break it looked like Coober Pedy had run out of steam and seemed to slow the game down a bit.
With Hornridge using its runners well, it kept control of the game.
The last quarter was much the same as the third with Hornridge in control, with its big forwards kicking goals, Ryan Briggs and Stuart Frenci kicking four goals each.
